Greek-inspired Taco Gyro

  • pita bread

  • tzatziki sauce

Steps


  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

  • In a bowl, combine the gyro meat with lemon juice, oregano, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

  • Shape the meat mixture into small patties and arrange them on a baking sheet.

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through.

  • While the gyro meat is baking, prepare the toppings.

  • Chop the tomatoes, red onion, lettuce, cucumber, and black olives.

  • In a small bowl, crumble the feta cheese.

  • Warm the pita bread in the oven or on a stovetop griddle.

  • Once the gyro meat is cooked, assemble the taco gyros by spreading a spoonful of tzatziki sauce on each warmed pita bread.

  • Place a couple of gyro meat patties on top of the sauce.

  • Add the chopped tomatoes, red onion, lettuce, cucumber, black olives, pickled jalapenos, and crumbled feta cheese.

  • Drizzle with a bit more tzatziki sauce, fold the pita bread in half, and enjoy!
