Steps
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, ground nutmeg, and salt.
In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then add in the vegetable oil, buttermilk, coffee, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until well combined.
Pour the batter into the greased cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
While the cake is baking, prepare the chocolate ganache by melting the chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over simmering water. Stir in the ground chili powder.
Once the cake has cooled, pour the chocolate ganache over the top, allowing it to drip down the sides.
Garnish with cinnamon sticks for an extra touch of Mexican flair.
Slice and serve this indulgent Mexican spiced chocolate cake.
